As parents, we worry about the well-being of our kids; about their future, and about our role in shaping it. How do we keep them safe, while encouraging their independence? When should we motivate them by incentive, and when by establishing firm consequences? And how do we build their self-esteem to prepare them mentally and emotionally for the long road ahead?
In The Art of Parenting, we explore the challenges that face us as parents and uncover timeless insights from Jewish wisdom to instill values, foster independence, and support the long-term success and emotional well-being of our children.

Course Outline
{ LESSON 1 } PARENT, OR “PEER ANT”
Do we relate to our child as a friend, or as an influential personality whom they admire and respect? How do we instill a reverence for authority while reinforcing emotional security?
{ LESSON 2 } BE FIRM, OR FORGIVING?
If we’re too forgiving, our child may lack direction. If we’re too strict, they may look elsewhere for support. We’ll explore balanced approaches to effective parenting.
{ LESSON 3 } GRANT FREEDOM, RESPONSIBLY
How do we encourage independence without abandoning responsibility? When must we let go and trust our children’s choices?
{ LESSON 4 } CULTIVATE HEALTHY SELF-ESTEEM
How can we help our child develop confidence, resilience, and a strong self-image?
{ LESSON 5 } REWARD AND DISCIPLINE, EFFECTIVELY
Praise and consequences shape behaviour. How do we ensure our responses are effective and supportive?
{ LESSON 6 } IMPART A TOOLKIT FOR LIFE
Education, values, and Jewish identity are lifelong tools. How do parents nurture all three?
