Sale of Chametz

Since it is prohibited to possess chametz on Pesach, any remaining chametz must be sold to a non-Jew. Chametz and chametz utensils that were not fully cleaned should be stored away in a sealed area for the duration of the festival.

Because this transaction involves important legal details, a rabbi acts as your agent both to sell the chametz before Pesach and to repurchase it after the festival.

If you will not be in the UK for Pesach please email [email protected] before completing the form.

Maot Chitim – Pesach Fund

Help every family celebrate Pesach with dignity and joy

At the beginning of the Haggadah we say, “All who are hungry, let them come and eat.” In reality, many people who are struggling will not be standing at our doors as we begin the Seder.

For generations Jewish communities have therefore given generously before Pesach to special funds that help ensure everyone has what they need for Yom Tov — food, matzah, wine and other essentials.

This beautiful tradition is known as ma’ot chitim, literally “the wheat fund,” also called kimcha d’pischa. What began as a way to provide matzah has become a powerful expression of communal care and responsibility.

By supporting Maot Chitim in Leeds you are helping individuals and families celebrate Pesach properly around their own Seder tables.
